vivo has officially launched the X Fold6 in China today, and it’s easily one of the most spec-packed foldables to come out this year. The phone weighs just 217g with a folded thickness of 9.2mm — territory that’s starting to feel a lot more like a regular flagship than a chunky foldable.
The hinge uses vivo’s sixth-generation aerospace floating-wing structure made from zirconium alloy and carbon fiber, keeping the crease depth to just 0.12mm — practically invisible to the naked eye — with an official fold endurance rating of up to 600,000 cycles. Durability is serious here too, with both IPX8 and IPX9 water resistance plus IP5X dust protection, and the phone can even be operated underwater while folded.

Under the hood sits the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super Edition, co-developed by vivo and MediaTek two years in advance and purpose-built for foldable multi-tasking, multi-window rendering, and on-device AI. Compared to the previous generation, NPU peak performance jumps by 111% while power consumption drops by 56%.

The inner display is an 8.02-inch 2K UTG panel using Samsung’s M14 luminous material — a world first — hitting 5,000 nits peak brightness with a minimum of just 1 nit for late-night use. The cover screen is a 6.51-inch 1.5K panel protected by second-generation armored glass, and both support 1–120Hz LTPO adaptive refresh rates.

Camera-wise, the X Fold6 borrows directly from vivo’s flagship X series straight bars. The main shooter is a 200MP Samsung HPB 1/1.4-inch sensor with an f/1.68 aperture and CIPA 4.5-level OIS. The telephoto is arguably the bigger headline — it’s the first foldable to feature a Zeiss APO-certified periscope lens, paired with a Sony LYT-602 sensor, bringing APO-grade chromatic aberration control to zoom photography.

The phone also supports the optional vivo Zeiss Teleconverter G2, which extends reach to an equivalent 200mm focal length. All imaging is processed by the V3+ imaging chip.

Software gets a big leap too with OriginOS 6 Fold, which introduces “Atomic Workstation” parallel mode — running up to four independent apps simultaneously on the large inner screen, with freely resizable windows and seamless switching between parallel and serial modes just by half-folding the device. AI tools include a meeting assistant with real-time transcription, an AI file manager, and a Small V Claw PC mode that turns the phone into a desktop terminal when connected to a keyboard and mouse.

Battery life has always been a foldable weak point, but vivo is tackling it head-on with a 7,000mAh Blue Ocean Battery — up nearly 1,000mAh from the X Fold5 — combining fifth-gen silicon anode and third-gen semi-solid-state battery technology. It charges at 80W wired and 40W wireless magnetic fast charging, reaching 75% in just 30 minutes.
Connectivity gets a boost from vivo’s self-developed 1+4 communication chipset, featuring one global signal amplifier and four Wi-Fi wall-penetrating enhancement chips for more stable connections in weak signal environments.
Pricing in China starts at CNY 7,999 (~RM4,807) for 12GB + 256GB, going up to CNY 10,999 (~RM6,610) for the top 16GB + 1TB variant.
