Astro X3: No-Box Streaming Plan Launches July 20 From RM39.99/Month

Astro X3

Astro is making a big push into streaming with the launch of Astro X3, a new streaming-first service that lets customers start watching within minutes — no decoder, no satellite dish, and no technician installation required.

Both new and existing customers can sign up entirely through their mobile device, then stream via the Astro app on compatible Smart TVs, or across devices using Astro GO. The service goes live on 20 July 2026, though at launch customers can only choose from two 12-month contract plans: the Entertainment 12 Pack at RM39.99/month with access to over 65 channels, and the Sports 12 Pack at RM89.99/month, which bundles in Entertainment content plus live sports for over 80 channels total, along with beIN SPORTS CONNECT and Sun NXT Lite. Prices exclude SST.

A no-contract option is also in the works, though it won’t arrive until December 2026. The contract-free Entertainment Pack will cost RM59.99/month and the Sports Pack RM109.99/month — about RM20 more than the contract plans — and won’t include add-ons like Kids, Blockbuster or Sports Extra, nor OTT apps such as Disney+, Prime Video, HBO Max, Viu, iQIYI, TVBAnywhere+, Sun NXT, WeTV, SimplySouth, ZEE5 or Qalbox, all of which are reserved for contract subscribers.

Notably, Netflix isn’t supported on Astro X3 at all, unlike Astro One.

Content-wise, Astro X3 includes Astro Originals along with live sports coverage of the Premier League, AFC and UEFA Champions League, Formula 1, MotoGP, Wimbledon and international badminton tournaments. Compared to Astro One’s 24-month contract, Astro X3’s 12-month commitment is noticeably shorter, though there are a few trade-offs: 80+ channels versus Astro One’s 86+, no radio channels, fewer add-on options, and Cartoon Network (CH 615) is missing from the Kids Pack add-on. Picture quality isn’t affected though — both contract and no-contract Astro X3 users can stream up to 4K UHD.
