HONOR has officially launched its new Magic9 series in China, consisting of the Magic9 Pro Max, Magic9 Ultra Edition and Magic9. The Pro Max takes the spotlight with a new imaging system developed in collaboration with German cinema technology company ARRI.
Magic9 Pro Max leads with ARRI imaging
The Magic9 Pro Max is the top model in the lineup, featuring a 6.8-inch 1.5K 120Hz LTPO display with a 2868 × 1320 resolution. HONOR says its new “Diamond Shield” display coating reduces reflections to as low as 1.5%, while peak brightness reaches 10,000 nits.
It is powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset and packs an 8,800mAh battery, supporting 100W wired and 80W wireless charging. Other features include 3D face recognition, 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanning, dual 1216 speakers and IP68/IP69/IP69K protection.
The biggest upgrade comes in the camera department. The phone features an ARRI Dual 200MP Ultra HD Imaging System, headlined by a 200MP gimbal-grade main camera with a 1/1.28-inch sensor and f/1.57 aperture. It is paired with a 200MP periscope telephoto camera using a 1/1.4-inch sensor and f/2.6 aperture, alongside a 50MP ultrawide camera.
The main camera also supports 3-degree gimbal-level stabilisation and CIPA 8.0-level stabilisation.
HONOR has integrated several elements from ARRI’s professional cinema workflow, including ARRI Color Science, ARRI Look, AWG3 wide-gamut colour space, APV lossless encoding and the ARRI LogC3 video pipeline. The phone also supports ARRI cinematic live view and a 2.39:1 cinematic aspect ratio.
HONOR is also offering a dedicated photography kit with a 500mm HONOR telephoto extender, as well as a more compact 200mm “Thumb” telephoto extender.
The Magic9 Pro Max is priced at:

- 12GB + 512GB — CNY 6,999 (about RM4,259)
- 16GB + 512GB — CNY 7,499 (about RM4,563)

Magic9 Super Edition and Magic9
The Magic9 Ultra Edition takes a different approach, focusing heavily on battery life. It features a 6.81-inch 1.5K 120Hz display, the fifth-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite, and a massive 11,000mAh battery with 80W wired and 50W wireless charging. It also features an active cooling fan.
The phone measures around 8.1mm thick and weighs 227g. Its camera setup consists of a 200MP main camera, 12MP ultrawide and 50MP 3x telephoto camera.
Prices start at CNY 4,499 (about RM2,737) for the 12GB+256GB model, while the 12GB+512GB and 16GB+512GB versions cost CNY 4,999 (about RM3,041) and CNY 5,499 (about RM3,345), respectively. Government subsidies bring the effective prices down to CNY 3,999, CNY 4,499 and CNY 4,999.
Meanwhile, the standard Magic9 comes with a more compact 6.37-inch 1.5K 120Hz LTPS display, the same fifth-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and an 8,000mAh battery supporting 80W wired and 50W wireless charging.
It also gets a 200MP main camera, 50MP ultrawide and 200MP 3.5x periscope telephoto camera, alongside a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.
The Magic9 starts at CNY 4,999 (about RM3,041), with the 12GB+512GB, 16GB+512GB and 16GB+1TB versions priced at CNY 5,499 (about RM3,345), CNY 5,999 (about RM3,650) and CNY 6,999 (about RM4,259), respectively.
