U Mobile Brings U Home 5G Borneo to East Malaysia for RM58 a Month

U Mobile is expanding its home broadband footprint to East Malaysia with the launch of its new U Home 5G Borneo plan — a high-speed, unlimited 5G home internet package now available across Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan.

The plan, priced at RM58 per month, offers unlimited data with no Fair Usage Policy (FUP) and promises a “fibre-like” connection experience powered by the telco’s 5G network. It mirrors the same offer previously available only in Peninsular Malaysia but is now tailored exclusively for East Malaysian users.

Customers who already own a compatible 5G router can subscribe without signing any contract. Those who need new equipment can opt for a 24-month plan and receive a complimentary Game-Grade 5G router, identical to the model bundled with the West Malaysian version.

However, U Mobile clarified that this plan is region-locked to East Malaysia — meaning the SIM cannot function in Peninsular Malaysia. The service supports unlimited hotspot sharing and places no limit on the number of connected devices.

For registration, Malaysian citizens and permanent residents must pay one month of advance fees, while non-Malaysians are required to place a refundable RM500 deposit, which will be returned within 60 working days after termination.

Existing U Mobile broadband or U Home 5G users can also switch to the new Borneo plan once outstanding bills are settled, though unused data or add-ons will be forfeited during the migration.

Beyond the core package, U Mobile is also offering bundle options — users can add Sooka Premium streaming for a total of RM88 per month, or include a Samsung 4K Smart TV by paying an additional RM64 to RM217 monthly depending on the model selected.

While the plan is marketed as “no speed caps, no data limits,” U Mobile’s policy still allows speed management in cases of extreme or abusive data use.

The launch comes as U Mobile positions itself as Malaysia’s second designated 5G network provider, a move expected to strengthen nationwide 5G coverage and improve performance consistency in the long run.

Customers can now sign up for U Home 5G Borneo through any U Mobile branch, the official website, or the MyUMobile app.
