Public Bank’s MyPB App to End Support for Older Android and iOS Versions

Public Bank’s MyPB App to End Support for Older Android and iOS Versions

Public Bank Malaysia has issued an important notice to all its digital banking users: the MyPB mobile app will soon stop supporting older Android and iOS operating systems.

According to an announcement published on the bank’s website, MyPB will soon require a minimum of Android 12 for Android devices and iOS 16 for iPhones to continue using the app. This move is aimed at ensuring “continued security and optimal app performance,” the bank said.

Currently, the official MyPB product page still lists Android 11 and iOS 15 as the minimum supported versions, suggesting that the higher requirement will come into effect following an upcoming update. However, Public Bank has yet to specify an exact enforcement date.

Why Public Bank Is Raising System Requirements

This upgrade follows the bank’s earlier transition in August 2025, when it discontinued the older PB Engage MY app and migrated users to the new MyPB platform. By increasing the minimum OS version, Public Bank is reinforcing its commitment to data security, stability, and a smoother digital experience for customers.

Industry observers note that this is in line with a broader trend among financial institutions tightening app security standards to protect users from vulnerabilities in outdated operating systems.

What Users Should Do Next

Public Bank is urging users to check their device OS version and update to the latest available release to avoid service disruption. Those who cannot upgrade due to hardware limitations are advised to contact the bank’s customer service for possible alternatives or assistance.

Users can reach Public Bank through its official website, where contact numbers and support email addresses are listed for inquiries.
