Proton has opened the order books for its first mass-market electric vehicle, the Proton e.MAS 5, a compact crossover designed to bring EV ownership within reach of Malaysian buyers.
The company has set a tentative price range between RM60,000 and RM80,000, with deliveries expected to kick off by November 2025.

Customers can secure a unit with a RM99 refundable booking fee, and the first 5,000 buyers will enjoy extra perks, including a limited edition e.MAS Touch ’n Go card preloaded with RM100 and an additional RM500 rebate on their booking. Proton guarantees full refunds within 45 days if customers change their minds.

Here’s a short recap of what is officially known about The e.MAS 5:
will be offered in two trims: Prime and Premium. The Prime model comes with a 30.12 kWh LFP battery from CATL, delivering up to 225 km of range on the WLTP cycle.
The Premium steps up to a 40.16 kWh pack, extending driving range to around 325 km. Beyond performance, the Premium adds 16-inch alloys, a 360-degree camera system, LED headlamps, advanced driver assistance features, and a power tailgate.

Inside, Proton has fitted the e.MAS 5 with a modern cabin featuring an 8.8-inch digital instrument panel and a 14.6-inch touchscreen running the in-house Atlas Auto OS. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are included, along with real-time charging maps and multilingual voice commands. Storage is practical too, offering a 375-litre boot, a 70-litre frunk, and multiple in-cabin compartments.
Safety is comprehensive, with six airbags and a suite of ADAS functions such as adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot detection, lane-keeping assist, and rear cross-traffic alert.

Built on Geely’s GMA platform and derived from the Geometry Xingyuan, the e.MAS 5 has been tailored to meet local market needs. Proton has also signaled that a locally assembled CKD version is on the horizon, potentially lowering costs further.
