OPPO has officially launched the Reno16 series in Malaysia, bringing the lineup that first debuted in Thailand and Europe a few weeks ago to local shores. The series includes three models: the entry-level Reno16 F, the standard Reno16, and the flagship Reno16 Pro.
OPPO tapped K-pop girl group BABYMONSTER, currently riding a wave of global popularity, as the face of the Reno series. The phones even made subtle appearances in the group’s music videos ahead of the official announcement, generating buzz before launch.
OPPO Reno16/Pro

The Malaysian and international variants differ notably from the China version launched back in late May, mainly in chipset and battery. The Reno16 Pro internationally runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 8550 Super paired with 12GB RAM and up to 512GB storage, a step down from the Dimensity 9500s used in China. The standard Reno16 uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 instead. Both run Android 16 with ColorOS 16 on top.

The biggest design highlight this generation is the new 3D Pop Planet Design, exclusive to the Pop White colourway. It relies on OPPO’s HoloVerse 3D technology, which uses an array of microlenses based on the integral imaging optical principle to create a floating planet effect that appears to hover roughly 15mm above the back cover. OPPO says this marks the first time such an effect has been achieved on a mass-produced phone. The frame is built from aerospace-grade aluminium alloy, and the series carries triple durability certification of IP68, IP69, and IP69K.

On the display side, the Reno16 Pro gets a 6.32-inch AMOLED screen with a 144Hz refresh rate, actually an improvement over the China model’s panel, while the standard Reno16 keeps the same screen size but tops out at 120Hz. Both hit a peak brightness of 3,600 nits and come with an in-display optical fingerprint sensor along with Splash Touch, which allows the screen to be used with wet fingers.

Cameras are a major focus this round. The Reno16 Pro features a triple-camera setup anchored by a 200MP main sensor (Samsung S5KHP5), alongside a 50MP ultra-wide (GC50F6 sensor) and a 50MP periscope telephoto lens offering 3.5x optical zoom. The standard Reno16 swaps in a 50MP Sony LYT-600 main sensor but retains the same telephoto and ultra-wide modules as the Pro. Both models share a 50MP, 100-degree ultra-wide selfie camera up front, along with AI features like AI Remix Collage for quicker photo edits.

Battery life looks solid across the board, with both the Reno16 and Reno16 Pro in Malaysia packing a 6,700mAh silicon-carbon battery and supporting 80W SuperVOOC wired fast charging.
OPPO Reno16 F

The entry-level Reno16 F comes with a 6.57-inch OLED display supporting up to 120Hz refresh rate, powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Energy chipset paired with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.
It carries the largest battery in the lineup at 7000mAh, also supporting 80W SUPERVOOC fast charging.
On the camera side, it features a 50MP main sensor with 2-axis OIS, a 50MP telephoto lens, and an 8MP ultra-wide camera, along with a 50MP ultra-wide selfie camera up front.
It shares the same Pop White exclusive “3D Pop Planet Design” back cover as its siblings, along with IP69K-rated durability.
