Xiaomi Officially Launches Xiaomi 17 Series in China: Pricing from ~RM2,655

Xiaomi has officially introduced its highly anticipated Xiaomi 17 Series in China, skipping the “16” branding altogether and directly aligning its naming convention with Apple’s latest iPhone 17 lineup. The new family consists of three models: Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and the standard Xiaomi 17. Notably, Xiaomi has adopted the “Pro Max” designation for the first time, signaling its intention to compete head-on with Apple in the ultra-flagship segment.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Debut

The Xiaomi 17 Series is the first in the world to debut Qualcomm’s newly announced Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform, built on TSMC’s 3nm process. Together with Xiaomi’s upgraded HyperCore scheduling system, the chipset promises exceptional peak performance and energy efficiency, positioning itself as a direct rival to Apple’s A19 Pro SoC.

Display Highlights

  • Xiaomi 17 Pro Max: 6.9-inch AMOLED “Super Sunlight Display,” 2608 × 1200 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 300Hz touch sampling, and an impressive peak brightness of 3,500 nits. The rear side also features a 2.9-inch AMOLED sub-display, functioning as a clock, notification panel, AI wallpaper, or even a rear camera viewfinder.

  • Xiaomi 17 Pro: 6.3-inch AMOLED display with the same rear sub-screen as the Pro Max, but in a more compact form factor.

  • Xiaomi 17: 6.3-inch LTPO OLED flat display with adaptive 1–120Hz refresh rate and IP66/IP68/IP69 dust and water resistance, making it one of the most durable devices in the lineup.

Imaging System: “King of Backlight”

The Pro models introduce the new Light Hunter 950L sensor with 16.5EV dynamic range and single-frame HDR capture. All three models feature a 50MP triple-camera setup (main, periscope telephoto, ultra-wide) alongside a 50MP front camera. The standard Xiaomi 17 also carries Leica-branded triple cameras, with slight variations in aperture and focal length. All lenses use advanced multi-layer coating to minimize glare and ghosting.

Battery & Charging

  • 17 Pro Max: 7,500mAh

  • 17 Pro: 6,300mAh

  • 17: 7,000mAh

All models support 100W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 22.5W reverse charging. Xiaomi has also opened its 100W PPS fast-charging protocol to third-party manufacturers for broader ecosystem support.

Design & Build

The Pro series adopts a super-elliptical flat-edge design with ultra-thin 1.18mm bezels, while the rear sub-screen enhances playability, even doubling as a mini gaming device when paired with Xiaomi’s retro-style case. The standard Xiaomi 17, meanwhile, is lighter at just 191g, appealing to users who prefer a more compact flagship.

Software & Colors

All three devices ship with HyperOS 3 (based on Android 16), optimized for power management, gaming performance, and a new “Super Island” feature for streamlined notifications and multitasking.

  • Pro & Pro Max colors: Black, White, Misty Purple, Forest Green

  • Standard Xiaomi 17: Adds Snowy Pink and Ice Blue
