U Mobile Launches ULTRA5G: New High-Speed and Reliable 5G Network Experience in Malaysia

U Mobile has officially launched its new 5G brand ULTRA5G at its headquarters in Berjaya Times Square (BTS), Kuala Lumpur. The brand represents U Mobile’s commitment to ultra-fast speeds, strong reliability, and nationwide coverage.

Strong Indoor and Outdoor 5G Coverage

With the support of its In-Building Coverage (IBC) system, U Mobile users at Berjaya Times Square can now see the ULTRA5G indicator on their devices. This milestone demonstrates the company’s ability to deliver seamless coverage both indoors and outdoors, strengthening its network strategy.

First 4K Livestream from Asia-Pacific’s Longest Indoor Roller Coaster

To highlight ULTRA5G’s performance, U Mobile showcased the country’s first 4K livestream at the Berjaya Times Square Theme Park. The stream covered Asia-Pacific’s longest indoor roller coaster, measuring 800 meters and reaching speeds of up to 70 km/h. Despite the high-speed ride, the livestream remained smooth and stable, showcasing the depth and reliability of the ULTRA5G network.

Expanding Beyond Entertainment: XR, Robotics, and Smart Cities

U Mobile also demonstrated immersive multi-reality experiences and 5G-powered service applications. According to Chief Technology Officer Woon Ooi Yuen, ULTRA5G aims to enhance not only consumer experiences such as streaming, gaming, and video calls, but also enterprise applications in XR, robotics, smart cities, and Industry 4.0 automation.

Expanding Coverage Across Malaysia

In addition to Kuala Lumpur, U Mobile has extended ULTRA5G coverage to the Penang Bridge, where just two base stations provide full coverage across the entire structure, ensuring reliable connectivity for daily commuters.

The company has set an ambitious goal of reaching 80% population coverage (CoPA) by the second half of 2026. Expansion will prioritize airports, hospitals, convention centers, and other high-traffic venues.
