Sony Xperia 1 VII Launches in Malaysia for RM6,499, free Premium Headphones

Sony’s newest flagship smartphone, the Xperia 1 VII, has officially gone on sale in Malaysia at RM6,499, months after its global debut and a temporary halt due to a major hardware bug that has since been fixed.

The Xperia 1 VII continues Sony’s focus on professional‑grade imaging, audio, and display technology. Co‑developed with the Alpha camera team, its triple Zeiss‑lens system includes a 48MP main camera with a 1/1.35‑inch Exmor T sensor, f/1.9 aperture, OIS, and PDAF; a 12MP telephoto lens with optical zoom; and a 48MP ultra‑wide lens with improved clarity and detail. New AI‑powered auto‑framing and human pose tracking enhance stability and accuracy in dynamic shots.

On the audio side, the phone integrates Walkman‑derived technology, supports DSEE Ultimate upscaling, retains the 3.5mm headphone jack, and uses premium audio components for cleaner sound.

Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite processor with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage (expandable via microSD), the Xperia 1 VII also packs a 5,000mAh battery with 30W wired fast charging, promising up to two days of use.

Its 6.5‑inch 21:9 Bravia OLED display supports 120Hz refresh rate and HDR for cinematic visuals. Sony also promises highest peak brightness compared to Xperia 1 VI.

The design features a minimalist Sony aesthetic with a metal frame and frosted glass back, available in Moss Green, Orchid Purple, and Slate Black.
