realme has officially unveiled the realme Neo8 in China, positioning it as a gaming-focused smartphone to open its 2026 lineup. The device introduces a transparent RGB design, is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 flagship platform, and debuts several features that realme claims are industry firsts.

In terms of design, the Neo8 adopts a transparent layered glass back with a multi-texture finish that creates different visual effects under changing light. The signature “Awakening Halo” RGB lighting system makes a return, supporting customizable effects for gaming, notifications and music, alongside a new flip-based color interaction feature.

The phone uses a metal frame with a flat display and large-radius corners, delivering a symmetrical, four-sided narrow-bezel look.

The display is a 165Hz Samsung panel jointly developed by realme and Samsung Display. Using M14 emissive materials, it offers a claimed local peak brightness of up to 6,500 nits and up to 3,800 nits in sunlight mode.

For gaming, the Neo8 supports a 3,800Hz instantaneous touch sampling rate via a custom touch controller and enables native 165Hz gameplay in more than 30 popular mobile games. Eye protection features include full-brightness DC dimming and low-flicker certification.

At its core, the realme Neo8 runs on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 platform with an all-big-core CPU architecture. realme claims an AnTuTu score exceeding 3.58 million.

The phone includes a built-in performance control panel that allows users to adjust CPU and GPU frequencies without root access, along with five levels of thermal management.

Combined with a large vapor chamber cooling system, the device is designed to sustain 165Hz frame rates in supported shooter games.

The Neo8 also debuts a PC handheld mode that allows local execution of more than 50 PC games, effectively turning the phone into a portable gaming device.

Battery capacity is rated at 8,000mAh, using a silicon-enhanced anode with a reported 16 percent silicon content. It supports 80W fast charging and full-scenario bypass charging for extended gaming sessions.

On the imaging side, the phone features a 50MP Sony IMX896 main camera paired with a 50MP periscope telephoto lens, offering 3.5x optical zoom and up to 120x digital zoom, alongside portrait-focused and AI productivity features.

In China, the realme Neo8 is priced as follows: 12GB+256GB at 2,399 yuan (around RM1,395), 16GB+256GB at 2,699 yuan (around RM1,569), 12GB+512GB at 2,899 yuan (around RM1,685), 16GB+512GB at 3,199 yuan (around RM1,860), and 16GB+1TB at 3,699 yuan (around RM2,151).
