realme GT 8 Pro Launches in Malaysia with Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, Ricoh Camera System

realme Malaysia has introduced its newest flagship to Malaysia, marking the arrival of the realmeGT 8 Pro. The device enters the market as the top-tier variant of the GT 8 series, mirroring the hardware and features of its Chinese counterpart while positioning itself as the brand’s most advanced offering of the year.

The GT 8 Pro distinguishes itself through a striking mechanical-style camera assembly that allows its decorative DECO plates to be swapped out. The design supports different shapes and themes, giving the phone a modular, sci-fi aesthetic that stands out from typical flagship devices.

Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5  platform, the phone includes a massive 7,000mAh second-generation Titan battery. It supports 120W wired charging alongside 50W wireless charging and debuts a collaboration with Ricoh for its imaging system.

The handset’s design centers around its quick-release camera DECO, offered in Square, Circle and Robot styles. The Robot layout is the default, featuring a distinctive arrangement of the flash, color temperature sensor and star-shaped screws, while the Square transparent version resembles an astronaut helmet. The phone is available in Diary White and Urban Blue, blending futuristic motifs with sustainable materials.

Internally, the GT 8 Pro uses Qualcomm’s latest architecture built on a second-generation 3nm process and is paired with realme’s HyperVision+ AI chip capable of delivering native-level 2K resolution at 120fps. The brand’s upgraded GT Performance Engine provides predictive scheduling for smoother high-load performance. Cooling is handled by a 7,000mm² vapor chamber that is 30% larger than before, maintaining stability during sustained workloads. Dual 1115E symmetrical speakers and a premium 0816 vibration motor enhance gaming and multimedia immersion.

The phone features a 2K 144Hz flat display using BOE’s custom Q10+ material, capable of reaching 7,000 nits peak brightness and 2,000 nits full-screen brightness for easier viewing under harsh sunlight. It supports 3,200Hz instantaneous touch sampling and 360Hz four-finger touch response, along with hardware DC dimming, circular polarizer technology, a minimum 1-nit low brightness mode and a natural-color eye-comfort profile.

For imaging, realme partnered with Ricoh’s GR division to build a camera system centered on a GR-certified anti-glare main lens. The setup uses seven aspherical high-transparency elements and multilayer low-reflection coatings with just 0.2% reflectivity. Dual AR layers and blue-glass absorption raise light transmission to 97%. The phone’s 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens (Samsung HP5) offers 3x optical zoom, 6x lossless zoom and 25cm macro capability, while the 50-megapixel ultrawide supports a 116-degree field of view.

A dedicated Ricoh GR Mode includes classic 28mm and 40mm focal lengths inspired by street photography, paired with fast-shot focusing and an immersive viewfinder interface. Five GR-style film profiles and customizable watermarks help recreate analog tones, while the new SuperQPD capture system mimics the GR’s zone-focus logic to achieve near-instant shooting without waiting for AF to lock.

The large 7,000mAh battery supports charging from zero to 50% in just 15 minutes without increasing device thickness, which realme says has even been reduced by 0.35mm compared to earlier models. The GT 8 Pro debuts realme UI 7.0 and is promised five years of software updates and maintenance.

Only one configuration is available in Malaysia: the 16GB RAM and 512GB storage model at RM4,299.

Early buyers who place their orders before November 28 receive a substantial bundle of gifts worth up to RM1,197, which includes a RM200 rebate, a realme Watch 5, a protective case with extra DECO accessories, an additional year of warranty coverage, and a RM100 purchase-with-purchase discount.

A limited edition model created with Aston Martin, the GT 8 Pro Dream Edition, was launched alongside the standard version. This special release is also offered only in a 16GB + 512GB configuration and is priced at RM4,699. Pre-orders come with the same RM1,197 worth of bonuses.
