Proton has officially opened the order books for its first plug-in hybrid SUV, the Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV, on January 13, 2026.

Marketed as Malaysia’s first “dual-powered EV,” the vehicle is estimated to be priced between RM110,000 and RM130,000. To incentivize early adopters, the brand is offering a promotional booking fee of RM99—inclusive of a RM500 rebate—for the first 5,000 customers who register their interest.
The e.MAS 7 PHEV is available in three distinct variants: Prime, Premium, and the top-tier Premium Plus.

All models are powered by a 1.5-litre dedicated hybrid engine paired with an 11-in-1 Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT). The system delivers a combined output of 193 kW and 262 Nm of torque, allowing the Prime and Premium variants to achieve a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 8.0 seconds. The Premium Plus, which carries a larger battery, completes the same sprint in 8.2 seconds.
Battery capacity and range serve as the primary differentiators across the Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV lineup. The Prime and Premium variants are equipped with an 18.4 kWh battery, offering a pure electric range of 105 km (NEDC) and a total combined range of 1,000 km. The Premium Plus variant features a larger 29.8 kWh Aegis “Short Blade” battery, extending the electric-only range to 170 km (NEDC) and the total combined range to 1,065 km.

Charging capabilities also scale with the variants; while all models support 6.6 kW AC charging, the Premium Plus supports up to 60 kW DC fast charging, compared to the 30 kW limit on the lower trims.
Interior features vary to reflect the pricing tiers. While a 15.4-inch 2.5K touchscreen and 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster are standard across the range, the Premium and Premium Plus trims add several luxury amenities.
These include a 16-speaker Flyme Sound system, ventilated front seats, a 256-color ambient lighting system, and a windshield head-up display (HUD). The base Prime variant is equipped with an 18-inch wheel set and a 6-speaker audio system, whereas the higher trims move up to 19-inch wheels and include a powered tailgate.
Safety remains a priority for the national marque, with all variants featuring a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS).
The Prime model includes core functions such as Adaptive Cruise Control and Automatic Emergency Braking. The Premium and Premium Plus variants further enhance the safety suite with a 360-degree camera system, Blind Spot Detection, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
Proton expects to officially launch the Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV in February 2026, with deliveries scheduled to commence shortly thereafter.
