vivo has officially launched OriginOS 7 globally, just days after unveiling the new operating system in China. Based on Android 17, the international version brings a redesigned interface, improved system performance, AI-powered features and deeper connectivity between smartphones and other devices.
The first devices to get access are the vivo X300 Pro and iQOO 15, with both phones opening preview programmes ahead of the wider rollout. vivo Malaysia has also listed an OriginOS 7 Preview Program for the X300 Pro, confirming that Malaysia is among the markets participating in the early testing.
One of the biggest additions is Origin Workbench, a new multitasking workspace designed to let users work with several apps at the same time. It supports both side-by-side and top-and-bottom layouts, while content such as images and files can be dragged directly between supported apps. The workspace can handle up to five active applications, making it easier to work across multiple apps without constantly switching back and forth.
AI is another major focus in OriginOS 7. The system introduces a Jovi-powered Personal AI Agent, which is designed to help users complete tasks across different apps and connected devices. Depending on the market and device, OriginOS 7 also brings AI-powered tools for searching, summarising and processing content.
vivo is also expanding its cross-device ecosystem. Task Handoff allows users to continue certain tasks from their phone on a computer, while Screen Mirroring can display the phone’s screen on a PC. Free Transfer supports file transfers between Android phones, Macs and PCs, while One-Tap Transfer enables quick sharing of photos, videos and files between vivo phones and iPhones.
On the visual side, OriginOS 7 introduces a refreshed design built around what vivo describes as a new Light and Shadow Aesthetics, together with more fluid Liquid Motion effects. Interface elements can morph, merge and bounce in response to touch, while users can further customise their home screens with wallpapers, themes and stickers.
vivo is also placing considerable emphasis on long-term smoothness. Its updated Origin Smooth Engine combines technologies including Ultra-Core Computing, Memory Fusion and Dual Rendering to improve multitasking, memory management, rendering and touch responsiveness. New Spring Animation and Blur Transition effects are also designed to make app switching, scrolling and system interactions feel more fluid.
According to vivo, the system has been engineered to maintain a smooth experience for up to six years of daily use, based on its internal 72-month anti-aging testing. Actual performance, however, will vary depending on the device and usage conditions.
OriginOS 7 also adds several productivity-focused AI tools. vivo DocMaster can work with documents such as PDFs, Word files and PowerPoint presentations, while AI Search allows users to find files and notes using natural-language queries. AI Captions can transcribe and translate spoken content from meetings, calls and videos, as well as generate summaries.
With the international preview programme now underway, vivo X300 Pro users in markets including Malaysia and Thailand will be among the first overseas users to experience OriginOS 7. A wider stable rollout is expected to follow the beta testing phase.
