OnePlus 15R Debuts in Malaysia: Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 and 7,400mAh Battery Starting at RM2,599

OnePlus has officially expanded its smartphone lineup in Malaysia with the introduction of the OnePlus 15R. Positioned as a performance-oriented alternative to the main flagship, this device brings several high-end specifications to a more accessible price point, particularly focusing on endurance and raw processing power.

The internal hardware is headlined by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset. This processor is supported by 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage. To maintain peak performance during intensive tasks, OnePlus has integrated a 360-degree Cryo-Velocity cooling system featuring an aerospace-grade aerogel heat shield and a large vapor chamber.

On the front, the device sports a 6.83-inch AMOLED flexible display with a 1.5K resolution. Gamers will appreciate the 165Hz refresh rate and a 3200Hz touch response rate, designed to minimize input lag. The panel also reaches a local peak brightness of 3,600 nits, ensuring visibility under direct sunlight, while 2160Hz PWM dimming handles eye comfort in low-light environments.

A standout feature of the OnePlus 15R is its 7,400mAh silicon-carbon battery. This is one of the largest capacities currently available in a mainstream smartphone, utilizing high-density materials to keep the chassis relatively slim. Charging is handled via 80W SuperVOOC wired fast charging, which the company claims can reach a 50% charge in roughly 22 minutes.

For photography, the phone utilizes a dual-camera array on the rear. The primary sensor is a 50MP Sony IMX906 with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide lens. Selfies are handled by a 32MP front-facing camera. The device also supports 4K video recording at 120fps, a rarity for non-flagship models.

Durability is another area of focus, as the OnePlus 15R carries an IP68 and IP69K rating. This means it is protected against not only standard water immersion but also high-pressure, high-temperature water jets. It runs on OxygenOS 16 based on Android 16, with a promise of four major OS updates.

In Malaysia, the OnePlus 15R is priced at RM2,799 for the 12GB+256GB model, though an early bird promotion brings this down to RM2,599 (approx. RM2,599). The higher-tier 12GB+512GB variant is priced at RM2,899 (approx. RM2,899).
