Apple has introduced its first touchscreen MacBook Pro, combining a tandem OLED PROLED XDR display with Dynamic Island. Malaysian prices start at RM11,999, with pre-orders opening at 9am MYT on 30 October 2026 and availability from 6 November.
Touch comes to the Mac
The new 14-inch and 16-inch models let users interact directly with content while retaining the keyboard and trackpad. Scrolling, pinch-to-zoom and dragging items can now be performed on the display, giving creators another way to work with photos, timelines and onscreen controls.
Dynamic Island also arrives on the Mac, providing quick access to information and controls such as music playback, calls and Live Activities. The laptops run macOS 27.
Two OLED layers, up to 120Hz
PROLED XDR uses two self-emitting pixel layers. The actual display diagonals are 14.2 inches and 16.3 inches, with ProMotion adjusting between 10Hz and 120Hz.
Apple specifies peak HDR and SDR brightness of up to 2,000 nits and a 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio. P3 and Adobe RGB support target colour-sensitive photography and design work. Nano-texture glass is an extra-cost option.
M5 Pro and M5 Max configurations
The PROLED XDR range uses M5 Pro or M5 Max chips, with configurations reaching up to 128GB of unified memory and 16TB of storage. Limits depend on the chip and configuration.
The starting 14-inch model has an M5 Pro with a 15-core CPU and 16-core GPU, 24GB memory and a 1TB SSD. Connections include three Thunderbolt 5 ports, HDMI, an SDXC slot, MagSafe and a headphone jack, alongside Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.
