iQOO has officially launched the iQOO 15R in Malaysia, with prices starting from RM2,599. Going on sale from 3 March, this marks the first time iQOO has introduced the “R” branding to its flagship lineup, positioning the device as a sub-flagship option that doesn’t skimp on performance.
Design-wise, the iQOO 15R strikes a clean, modern look with flat edges, a metal frame, and a squarish camera module at the back reminiscent of the flagship iQOO 15.
It measures just 7.9mm thin and weighs 202g, making it relatively compact for a phone packing this much hardware inside. It comes in two colour options — Dark Knight, a sleek matte black, and Pixel Silver — and carries both IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance.
The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, supplemented by iQOO’s proprietary Q2 Supercomputing Chip and a dedicated Network Enhancement Chip that promises a 5% boost in cellular signal strength and reduced gaming latency.
Cooling is handled by a 6,500mm² IceCore VC Cooling System, which iQOO claims can bring temperatures down by up to 15°C in just 10 minutes.
The 6.59-inch flat AMOLED display offers a 2750×1260 resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 5,000 nits, backed by Schott Shield glass and a 3,200Hz instantaneous touch sampling rate — useful for gaming. Under the display sits an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner.
On the camera side, the iQOO 15R runs a dual rear system led by a 50MP Sony LYT-700V sensor with OIS, paired with an 8MP ultra-wide lens. The front camera is a 32MP shooter. Both front and rear cameras support 4K 60fps video recording. The absence of a telephoto lens is worth noting for buyers who prioritise zoom photography.
Battery life is arguably the headline feature here: a 7,600mAh cell with 100W FlashCharge can go from 1% to 50% in just 33 minutes, reaching a full charge in about 63 minutes.
The phone ships with Android 16-based OriginOS 6 and supports Origin Island, and iQOO is backing it with 4 years of OS updates and 6 years of security patches.
In Malaysia, iQOO 15R 12+512GB retails at RM2,699, while the online-exclusive 12+256GB will go on sale for RM2,499.
