Huawei officially launched its Pura 90 series in China on April 20, 2026, at its “Pura Series and All-Scenario New Products” event. The lineup comprises three models — the standard Pura 90, Pura 90 Pro, and Pura 90 Pro Max — marking the first time Huawei has introduced a Pro Max tier to the Pura family, while dropping the Ultra and Pro+ variants that featured in previous generations.

The camera system is the headline upgrade. The Pura 90 Pro Max becomes the first Huawei flagship to feature a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens, with support for 20x zoom video recording.

The main camera across the lineup uses a 50MP variable aperture lens, with the Pro Max pairing it with a one-inch sensor — the largest ever fitted to a Pura device.
All three models also run Huawei’s second-generation Red Maple Imaging System, which is tuned for more accurate colour reproduction in challenging lighting such as sunsets and low-light scenes.

On the performance side, Huawei has taken a tiered chip approach: the standard Pura 90 runs on the Kirin 9020, the Pro and Pro Max debutthe all-new Kirin 9030S, which is said to be optimised for superb imaging and still provide high performance.
The display strategy sees the entire lineup move to flat 2.5D OLED panels, away from the curved screens that have dominated premium Android phones in recent years.

Screens range from 6.58 inches on the standard model to 6.87 inches on the Pro Max, with 1.5K resolution, 1–120Hz LTPO adaptive refresh, up to 8,000 nits peak brightness, and Kunlun Glass 3.0 protection.

Battery capacities are generous — the standard Pura 90 packs a 6,500mAh cell in a 6.9mm-thin, 203g body, while the Pro Max carries 6,000mAh with 100W wired and 50W wireless fast charging. Both Pro models carry IP68 and IP69K water resistance ratings.
Design-wise, the series brings back Huawei’s gradient colour aesthetic, with the new “Orange Ocean” finish being a highlight of the range.
