Tesla has opened Roadster reservations on its Malaysian website, with total reservation payments of RM203,000 for Performance and RM1,009,000 for Thrust. Both configurations require an initial RM21,000 payment.
These amounts are reservation payments, not Malaysian vehicle selling prices. The local reservation page does not provide a final purchase price or a Malaysia delivery date.
Tesla Roadster Malaysia reservation payments
| Payment | Performance | Thrust |
|---|---|---|
| Initial payment | RM21,000 | RM21,000 |
| Balance due within 10 days | RM182,000 | RM988,000 |
| Total reservation payment | RM203,000 | RM1,009,000 |
Tesla marks the initial payment as fully refundable. Its page states that reservations are not final until payment is received and may be cancelled if payment is not completed within 10 days. It also says refunds for modifications will not be issued, so prospective customers should review the full reservation terms before paying.
Performance, Thrust and invitation-only Rocket
The new Roadster line-up starts with the two-seat Performance configuration, featuring active aerodynamics and a multi-mode suction system designed to generate downforce.
The two-seat Thrust adds acceleration thrusters. Tesla claims a 0–100 km/h time of under one second on its Malaysian product page; this is a manufacturer claim rather than an independently verified result.
Thrust reservations are limited to one per customer. Tesla says duplicate orders may be cancelled and availability remains subject to regional legal requirements.
A third configuration, Rocket, has one seat and is available by invitation only. Tesla describes a full flight system for this version and explicitly states that it is not approved for public-road use. Rocket cannot be selected as a normal reservation on the Malaysian page.
Left-hand drive only: local availability still needs clarification
The most significant detail for Malaysian buyers is Tesla’s statement that the Roadster is available only in left-hand drive, with availability subject to local laws.
A reservation option on the Malaysian website therefore should not be read as confirmation of Malaysian registration approval or a delivery schedule. The final local price, delivery arrangements and applicable road-use requirements remain details buyers will need Tesla to confirm.
For now, the concrete local figures are the reservation payments above. Anyone comparing the Roadster with cars already on sale should keep those deposits separate from a confirmed on-the-road purchase price.
