Nothing Phone (4a) Series, Nothing Headphone (a) launched globally

British tech brand Nothing has officially unveiled its latest smartphone lineup — the Nothing Phone (4a) series — at a global launch event held today in London, introducing both the Phone (4a) and the Phone (4a) Pro.

It’s also worth noting that this is the first Nothing release since founder Carl Pei publicly warned of a price hike, citing worsening component shortages and rising costs driven by surging AI-related demand. The Phone (4a) Pro was a genuine surprise reveal too — despite months of pre-launch hype, Nothing managed to keep its existence, design, and specs completely under wraps until today.

Starting with the Nothing Phone (4a), the signature transparent back makes its return, this time paired with a brand-new Glyph Bar housing 63 individually controllable mini-LEDs — 40% brighter than the previous generation.

The phone sports a 6.78-inch 1.5K 120Hz AMOLED display, driven by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset with up to 12GB of RAM, a 5,080mAh battery, and 50W fast charging. Camera-wise, it runs a triple rear setup with a 50MP main shooter, a 50MP periscope telephoto (3.5x optical zoom), and an 8MP ultrawide, plus a 32MP front camera.

It carries an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance. On the software side, the phone ships with Nothing OS 4.1 based on Android 16, offering three years of OS updates and six years of security patches — a notable step up from its predecessor and most rivals in its class.

The Phone (4a) Pro is where things get more interesting design-wise. It ditches plastic for a full aluminium unibody that measures just 7.95mm thin — the slimmest Nothing phone ever — and steps up to IP65 water and dust resistance.

The Glyph Matrix gets a major upgrade too, now composed of 137 mini-LEDs capable of hitting 3,000 nits. The camera module itself has a distinct look, stacked with multiple metallic rings for a techy aesthetic, while the rest of the back stays relatively minimal — just a subtle recessed ring at the bottom left and an antenna band running across the lower edge.

Spec-wise, the Pro bumps up to the faster Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, and its main camera upgrades to a larger Sony LYT-700c sensor for stronger imaging performance, particularly in low-light and night scenes.

The display also grows to 6.83 inches with a smoother 144Hz refresh rate. Battery capacity and charging speeds remain the same as the standard model.

Both phones run Nothing OS 4.1, which brings the usual slate of 2026 features alongside meaningful improvements to AI tools like Essential App and Essential Space.

Colourways differ between the two — the standard Phone (4a) comes in Black, White, Blue, and Pink, while the Pro is offered in Black, Silver, and Pink.

Rounding out the launch is the Nothing Headphone (a), essentially a more accessible take on Nothing’s over-ear headphones aimed at a younger crowd.

Malaysia launch details for all three products — including pricing and pre-order information — will be revealed on 1 April 2026.
