Huawei today officially announced the launch of the 2026 edition of the Huawei MatePad 12 X, its latest mid-to-high-end tablet designed for young professionals and creative students.
Building on the foundation of the 2025 model, the new iteration focuses on the deep integration of the HarmonyOS 4.3 ecosystem and a significant evolution in display technology, aiming to solidify its position in the competitive lightweight productivity and digital illustration markets.

The MatePad 12 X (2026) retains the series’ signature aesthetic, characterized by its “Shimmery Pearlescent Finish.” Utilizing an updated ultra-thin optical coating, the device features a metallic luster that shifts dynamically under different lighting conditions. Despite housing a 12-inch large-format screen, the tablet maintains a highly portable profile, weighing approximately 550 grams with a thickness of just 5.9mm. This design choice continues Huawei’s strategy of balancing large-screen utility with mobile convenience.

A primary highlight of the 2026 model is the introduction of the PaperMatte Display 2.0. This updated panel utilizes refined nano-scale etching technology to further minimize glare and environmental reflections. The 2.8K resolution screen supports a 144Hz adaptive refresh rate and sees a brightness boost to 1,100 nits, improving visibility in bright outdoor environments. The display also maintains the unique tactile friction that mimics the sensation of writing on physical paper, an essential feature for users of the M-Pencil. Furthermore, the screen has received updated eye-comfort certifications, reflecting a continued emphasis on reducing visual fatigue during long study or work sessions.

Software innovation marks the most significant departure from previous generations, as the 2026 MatePad 12 X comes pre-installed with the fully mature HarmonyOS 4.3.
Under the hood, while specific processor models follow Huawei’s standard confidentiality practice, supply chain reports indicate the inclusion of a next-generation Kirin chipset optimized for the native HarmonyOS environment.

The device also features enhanced NearLink technology, providing more stable and lower-latency connections for the third-generation M-Pencil and the updated Smart Magnetic Keyboard.
Battery performance remains robust with a 10,100 mAh capacity and 66W Huawei SuperCharge support, ensuring reliable longevity for a full day of intensive use.

HUAWEI MatePad 12 X 2026 is priced at RM2499 for the single 12+256GB variant, with free gifts like M-Pencil Pro, Bluetooth mouse and WPS Office 3.0 suite worth up to RM1047 if you preorder now.
