nubia Fold Launches in Japan with Snapdragon 8 Elite and Massive Battery

ZTE’s nubia has officially introduced its first flagship foldable smartphone, the nubia Fold, in the Japanese market.

The device is now listed on the Y!mobile operator’s official website and is set to go on sale starting December 4, 2025.

The nubia Fold is built around balancing a large-screen experience with portability. Unfolded, it boasts a massive 8.0-inch main display with a high resolution of 2,480 x 2,200 pixels. For quick access, the exterior features a 6.5-inch cover screen with a resolution of 2,748 x 1,172 pixels.

Both the inner and outer screens utilize high-resolution OLED panels and support a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, promising an immersive visual experience. When folded, the device maintains a profile fitting a 2025 flagship foldable, measuring just 11.1 mm thick and weighing approximately 249 grams.

To boost productivity, the phone supports split-screen multitasking, allowing users to run two applications simultaneously on the large 8-inch main screen.

Powering the device is the robust Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite mobile platform, paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage (ROM). This configuration ensures seamless performance for everything from daily work to demanding games.

The standout feature of the nubia Fold is its impressive endurance: a huge 6,560mAh battery supports 55W fast charging technology. Official data suggests the battery can be fully charged in about 70 minutes.

The new foldable ships with the latest Android 15 operating system and comes with IPX4 and IP5X ratings for water and dust resistance.

For photography, the nubia Fold is equipped with a powerful triple-camera system. The rear setup features a dual-primary lens combination: a 50-megapixel wide-angle sensor and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor, supplemented by a 5-megapixel macro lens. Furthermore, the device includes a 20-megapixel front-facing camera on both the inner and outer displays, facilitating high-quality selfies and video calls in any usage mode.

In addition to standard features, the nubia Fold supports dual biometric authentication via both fingerprint and facial recognition. Crucially for the local market, it also supports the Osaifu Keitai (mobile wallet) function specific to Japan.

The foldable phone is priced in Japan at ¥178,560, which is approximately RM4,730. Following its launch in Japan, the nubia Fold is expected to see a gradual rollout to more international markets throughout 2026.
