Apple has officially announced its next big launch event: the iPhone 17 series will be revealed on September 10, 2025, at 1AM Malaysia Time.
The launch, themed “Awe dropping,” promises sweeping changes across the iPhone lineup, with a focus on design, performance, and AI integration.
This year’s lineup includes four models: iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max.
The standout newcomer is the iPhone 17 Air, a sleek, ultra-thin device designed to replace the Plus variant. At just 5.5mm thick and weighing around 146g, it’s the lightest iPhone ever made—ideal for users who prioritize portability without sacrificing power.
The Pro models are getting a dramatic redesign, featuring a bold rectangular camera housing and a hybrid aluminum-glass back panel. Apple is introducing a matte anti-reflective display, improving outdoor visibility and reducing glare.
Under the hood, the new A19 Pro chip—built on TSMC’s third-gen 3nm process—powers advanced Apple Intelligence features, supported by 12GB of RAM for smoother multitasking and on-device AI.
Camera upgrades are equally ambitious. The front camera jumps to 24MP, while the Pro Max’s telephoto lens reaches 48MP, enabling simultaneous front-and-rear recording for creators. Battery life is expected to improve significantly, with the Pro Max possibly crossing the 5000mAh threshold and debuting Apple’s first vapor chamber cooling system.
Color options are getting a refresh too, with deep blue and orange variants teased in Apple’s event visuals—hinting at a more expressive design language.
An important rumored upgrade over the iPhone 16 series is the inclusion of ProMotion high refresh rate display on vanilla iPhone 17 and 17 Air models, which will be one of, if not THE biggest upgrade in the past few years for the non-Pro models
Beyond iPhones, the event will also introduce Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch Ultra 3, and AirPods Pro 3. The new AirPods will feature touch controls and heart rate monitoring, while the Ultra 3 watch may support 5G and offer a sharper display.
Apple is expected to discontinue several older models, including the iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max, clearing the stage for its most ambitious lineup yet.
