The long-awaited overhaul for Proton’s flagship C-segment SUV has finally arrived with the official debut of the 2026 Proton X70, starting at a competitive price of RM99,800.
While the new model retains the recognizable silhouette and core architecture of the X70 family, Proton has introduced significant technical refinements to the exterior design, interior technology, and powertrain to keep the aging nameplate modern.

The most immediate upgrade is found within the cabin, where the previous embedded infotainment setup has been replaced by a 12.3-inch floating touchscreen powered by a new electronic architecture.

This hardware leap finally brings native, wireless support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a major relief for users who previously relied on third-party workarounds for smartphone mirroring.

Under the hood, the 2026 X70 sees a substantial performance boost with the introduction of Proton’s latest i-GT 1.5TD turbocharged four-cylinder engine. This new powerplant delivers 181PS and 290Nm of torque, offering smoother power delivery and improved Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) levels compared to its predecessor.
Paired with a recalibrated 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, Proton claims this powertrain allows the SUV to achieve an impressive fuel economy of just 6.9L/100KM.

The lineup is divided into two distinct tiers: the Executive and the Premium. The Executive variant is positioned for practical buyers, featuring 18-inch alloy wheels, synthetic leather upholstery with power-adjustable seats, and essential safety features like blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
However, it relies on a standard reverse camera rather than a panoramic view.
The Premium variant pushes the luxury further with 19-inch low-drag wheels, ventilated Nappa leather seats, and a hands-free power tailgate.
Most importantly, the Premium grade includes a full Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), encompassing adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality, lane keep assist, autonomous emergency braking, and a high-definition 360-degree camera system.

Pricing for the 2026 Proton X70 starts at RM99,800 for the Executive variant, while the feature-packed Premium variant is priced at RM112,800. Stay tuned to Mdroid for more updates on this latest release.
